Basically, a sheet mask is a soft facial mask, infused with a cocktail of powerful and effective ingredients. The mask adheres to your skin and is left on for at least 15 minutes, allowing all these ingredients to transfer to your skin and penetrate the epidermis. Part of the 611 line, the 61% Mugwort Green Vital Energy Complex Sheet Mask helps soothe dull and tired skin using 6 plant extracts, 1 main ingredient – mugwort – and 1 core technology. Let’s have a look at how I liked this product!

1. Purpose

This Sheet Mask was made to deliver a lot of moisture to your skin, without any of the heaviness. This is especially great if you have oily skin, as this mask makes sure your skin is hydrated without making it greasy. 

As the name suggests, the mask contains a whopping 61% of mugwort. Mugwort has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties and provides the skin with a whole lot of hydration. This is because mugwort contains vitamin E, which helps the skin retain moisture. Mugwort also alleviates redness and even helps to control sebum production. 

The mask also contains other natural ingredients, such as spinach, cabbage, okra, and broccoli. An easy way to get your (skin-necessary) veggies in!

As this Sheet Mask has hydrating and cooling properties, it is ideal for those with sensitive, irritated, or dry skin. However, people with acne-prone skin will also benefit!

2. Ingredients

The 61% Mugwort Green Vital Energy Complex Sheet Mask contains 6 natural ingredients:

• Centella Asiatica: Helps skin heal, soothes irritated skin.
• Cabbage: Anti-inflammatory by lowering the skin’s temperature.
• Spinach: Mineral-rich, helps the skin absorb nutrients better.
• Peony Root: Has a lot of antioxidant benefits, meaning it helps protect the skin from free radicals and aids in skin regeneration.
• Okra: Moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and strengthens the skin barrier.
• Broccoli: Contains a lot of vitamin C and E to help with hyperpigmentation (and great antioxidants!)

The main ingredient of this mask is mugwort, in fact, 61% of the mask is mugwort. Mugwort is hugely hydrating due to its vitamin E, but it also contains antioxidant properties. This means that it helps the skin neutralize free radicals. Free radicals are caused by UV rays and pollution, and break down your skin cells. This leads to signs of aging such as wrinkles, and can also lead to irritation. Mugwort is great at protecting the skin from free radicals, and healing damage, and revitalizing the skin overall.

Finally, the Sheet Mask contains 1 special technology, called MultiEx BSASM. This technology is made with a blend of 7 plant extracts that contain anti-inflammatory and healing properties, and it helps heal irritated skin.

3. Texture & Smell

The mask itself is made of 100% plant materials, plant-based cellulose fiber. It feels very soft to the touch. The serum itself is very cooling and not too runny, so your face does not drip after applying the mask.

Fun fact: the mask looks green! This is due to all of the natural ingredients (spinach, broccoli, okra, cabbage), which naturally give off this color. No artificial coloring was used.

The mask smells very faintly of eucalyptus, a very fresh, soft smell that does not linger. It feels very cooling when applied to the face.

5. Packaging

All of AXIS-Y’s packaging shows their eco-friendly philosophy. They use simple, stylish packaging with a lot of white and green, to show their closeness to nature. I like how this packaging describes exactly what the mask does. You can buy this mask in packs of 1 or 5. The outer pack is green cardboard. Inside, the masks are individually packaged. 

6. Personal Review

I don’t like products which are strongly scented, but this mask wasn’t, so that’s great! It felt soothing on the skin. I sometimes like to put my sheet masks in the fridge and would really recommend to do that with this mask. The masks felt soft and fitted my face well. Even though I struggled a bit unwrapping it, once it was on my face, it didn’t drip.

How To Use Sheet Mask

Clean your skin with your daily cleanser and use a toner. Unfold the mask completely and place it onto dry skin, making sure that as much of your face is covered. If you like, you can gently massage the mask in to enhance the results. Leave the mask on for 15~20 minutes whilst you watch tv, read a book, or do something else relaxing. Take off the mask and gently tap in any remaining essence. You can also spread the essence to your neck and decolletage areas. If your skin is on the dry side, follow up with a moisturizer.
