Tony Moly Lip Tint Review

For the purpose of this review, I’ll be focusing on Tony Moly’s newly released Red of the Day collection, which is their latest lip tint lineup.

1. Full Name & Description

The line, officially known as Velvet Smudging Tint #ROTD, is a collection of highly pigmented, matte tint lip products that promise to be lightweight, delivering long-lasting coverage.

The collection includes three distinct shades: 01 Neutral, 02 Just Rose, and 03 Well-Matched Brick. While these shades all offer different degrees of red, the texture across the shades remains similar.

Additionally, the Red of the Day collection extends to lipsticks which share striking similarities with the lip tints in both colour and texture. Their official names are the Mono Chrome Matte Lipstick #ROTD with shades that include 01 One Pick Red, 02 Crazy Red, and 03 Suddenly Red.

The #ROTD collection also features an array of eye glitters, matte lipsticks, and eye shadows.

2. Ingredients

While each lip tint shade has its unique blend of ingredients, they all predominantly feature camellia oil, cotton seed oil, and rose hip fruit oil. Important to note is that these lip tints contain NO benzophenone, animality, and talc. Below is a breakdown of the specific ingredients found in each lip tint shade:

3. Texture and Application

Among the three colours, my personal favourite is 03 Well-Matched Brick, mainly due to its vibrancy and excellent pigmentation.

Despite being a matte lip tint, it unsurprisingly presents a bit of dryness whilst offering a lovely velvet texture. Applying a layer of lip balm before the matte lip tint is recommended to mitigate potential dryness. A notable feature is the long-lasting stain the lip tint leaves behind, making reapplications throughout the day unnecessary.

When applying, the product doesn’t easily glaze your lips uniformly. However, this issue can be fixed with a few extra strokes from your brush, which I personally found not bothersome.

4. Scent

The Tony Moly lip tint isn’t specially scented but exhibits a mild sweetness and fruity aroma. However, the scent dissipates quickly as the day progresses.

The product contains 4g of lip tint and is housed in a 9cm tall bottle, with each side measuring 2×2 cm. The matte transparency of the bottle allows for the easy monitoring of product usage.

Your location dictates the store you should visit. For residents of South Korea, Myeongdong shopping street or the Korean Tony Moly website are your best bets.

8. Personal Rating

Having used these products, I give a rating of 4.5/5. Before trying any of Tony Moly’s products, I only associated the brand with their endearing panda collection. However, after using their Aloe Gel and experiencing their lip tint and lipstick, I am thoroughly impressed. The products deliver on texture and longevity. Still, you need to be careful when applying the lip tint, as removing it requires a bit of effort.
